JORABAT, Nov 16 - Police personnel from Sonapur and Khetri last night rounded up five youths for performing stunts on their two-wheelers along the NH-37 stretch between Sonapur and Khetri.
The five youths were part of about 50 youngsters who used to perform dangerous stunts in the area on their two-wheelers almost every night, creating nuisance and putting the lives of the people in danger.
The local residents, being fed up with the stunts of the youths, dialled 100 and informed the City Police last night, following which Sonapur and Khetri police carried out operations on the highway. While most of the youngsters � both boys and girls � fled towards Guwahati city upon seeing the police, five fell into the police net.
Drive against illicit liquor: Personnel from the excise department today carried out operations against illicit liquor in different areas of Dimoria and arrested around 15 people. They also destroyed thousands of litres of country liquor and seized huge quantities of IMFL and beer.
