Bihu workshop at Don Bosco School

GUWAHATI, April 25 � A 10-day Bihu workshop will be held at the Don Bosco School, Panbazar campus, every afternoon (from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm) from April 27 to May 6.

The workshop will be conducted by Ranjit Gogoi and his team comprising Bihu Samragyi Nilakshi Borgohain, Simanta Tamuly and a few dhulias of the State.

Later, the 10th annual Don Bosco Rongali Bihu Utsav-2015 will be celebrated with a colourful day-long programme at the school campus on May 9.

The workshop modules will include dance, dhol, pepa, taal and hutuli. An art competition on the theme �Bihu and Assamese culture� for students from KG to Class VII and traditional games such as rosi-tona, koni jooj, tekeli bhonga, luka-bhaku, etc., for students from Class VIII-XII will be held on May 6. On May 7, a competition on traditional costumes of Northeast India and sharing of mouthwatering traditional Bihu delicacies will be held. The entire Bihu festivities will culminate in the grand Bihu Mela which will be inaugurated on the morning of May 9, and will be open to students, parents, guardians as well as well wishers.

The day-long Bihu Mela will include a Bihu dance competition, exhibition on traditional Assamese paraphernalia, exhibition of a typical village house/scene during Bihu, stalls on ethnic food as well as handloom clothes, home-made delicacies, handicrafts, handwork, etc., followed by a colourful cultural programme to enthral the audience.
