GUWAHATI, Feb 6 - The 65th Filmfare Awards event that will bring all the glitz and glamour of Bollywood to Guwahati on February 15, will also give good exposure to the traditional Bihu, Sattriya and a fusion of folk and tribal dance forms of Assam.
Destination partner of the event, Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC), today disclosed that a 12-minute slot has been kept for the three cultural performances of Assam, during which 115 artistes of Assam would present the vibrant culture and dance forms of the State.
Choreographed by Sattriya exponent Jatin Goswami, the classical dance form would be performed by 35 Assamese dancers, whereas Bihu and a fusion of tribal dances of Assam have been designed by Ranjit Gogoi, an acclaimed cultural ambassador of Assam, who has been promoting Bihu on national and international platforms. The two programmes will have 40 Assamese artistes each. Assamese actresses Gayatri Mahanta and Aimee Baruah will also perform.
The programme would be held at the Helipad Ground of the Sarusajai Stadium.
Meanwhile, the tickets for the gala event are on sale on the BookMyShow website since 4 pm today and will be available on the official website of Awesome Assam (www.awesomeassam.org) on February 8 from 11 am. The ATDC will be selling 35 per cent of the total 7,006 tickets through its website. The rate of the tickets vary from Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,00,000. However, tickets costing Rs 1,000 would be available only for students and producing ID cards shall be mandatory while procuring these tickets.
Tickets shall have to be purchased online through either of the websites, but, the buyers also need to procure them physically. Against the online purchase on the Awesome Assam website, tickets will also be available at Paryatan Bhawan, Paltan Bazar in the morning of February 14, ATDC Chairman Jayanta Malla Baruah told the media here today.
Diamond, Titanium and Titanium Plus are the most expensive categories available with one ticket of each category costing Rs 1,00,000, Rs 2,00,000 and Rs 3,00,000 respectively.
Hundred and five tickets in each of the Titanium and Titanium Plus categories are available for sale. Since 50 per cent of the proceeds of the ticket sale would go to the CMs Relief fund, we are mainly banking on the premium categories for making the maximum contributions for the cause, Baruah added.
Meanwhile, defending the Sate governments decision to spend Rs 23 crore for the event, Baruah said the award function has a reach to two billion people and considering the cost incurred to promote tourism on national and international platforms, electronic media, etc, it was a comparatively meagre expenditure.
Assam tourism is already getting a very good coverage through the Filmfare promos shot by Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pedhnekar and Ayushmann Khurrana. Other film and television stars like Elli Avram, Karishma Tanna, Aparshakti Khurana and Angad Bedi have shot promos in Pobitora, Sivasagar, Manas and Kaziranga, which beautifully promotes the tourism destinations of Assam, he said.
