Bihu celebrated in Punjab varsity

GUWAHATI, May 1 - The traditional Assamese community festival of Rongali Bihu was celebrated at the Northeast block of Guru Kashi University, Bathinda in Punjab recently.

The programme, inaugurated by the university�s director Dr Narinder Singh, was attended by member of the management committee Gurpratap Singh, registrar Dr Amit Tuteja, deputy director Dr Ashwani Sethi, administrative officer Gurdev Singh Kot Fatta, besides the faculty members and other staff of the technical wing of Guru Kashi University.

The programme was moderated by Mokibur Hussain Mazumder, assistant professor in the department of computer science engineering.

Following the inaugural speech by Dr Singh, a variety programme of cultural items including songs and traditional dances was presented by the university�s students from Northeast India.

All the faculty members of the university, present on the occasion, congratulated the students for their enthusiasm and activities. Vice Chancellor Dr NS Malhi also lauded the efforts of the Northeast students of his university.
