GOSSAIGAON, May 16 - More than 100 people, most of them labourers who worked at a private farm house in Nagaon district, arrived at Srirampur yesterday on foot. They will leave for their own State Bihar on foot. They had waited for many days at Nagaon after the declaration of the lockdown. But as the farm house was closed down, they had nothing else to do than to leave for their home State Bihar. Their hard-earned money had been spent on day-to-day expenditures. Now with the remaining small amount, they are determined to reach their home.
The on-duty officials at the COVID-19 centre at Srirampur did not pay any heed to their request for food, water and humanitarian aids. They will leave towards their home State on foot and will consume biscuits and water. The tired workers narrated their story before the scribes and other local residents of Srirampur.
It may be mentioned here that only registration of vehicles coming from both the sides, their destinations, addresses, names are maintained in Srirampur.
