Biennial meet of medical college staff body ends

SILCHAR, Jan 31: The sixth biennial conference of the All Assam Medical College and Hospital Employees’ Association concluded on the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) premises on Saturday.

Speaking at the open session on the concluding day, Minister of Forest Environment and Excise Parimal Suklabaidya, who is also the chairman of the governing body of the SMCH, said, “The government will listen to the demands of the employees of the association. I shall try to place the issues before the State Cabinet as well.” He hailed the efforts of the doctors and employees of the medical colleges in the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic. The association felicitated some of the members for their dedicated services. A souvenir, Sanjeevan, was also released on the occasion.

Dr Babul Kumar Bezbaruah, Principal of SMCH, spoke on the major infrastructure requirements at the hospital. He underscored the importance of the association in unifying the members. Vice Principal Dr Bhaskar Gupta and Superintendent Dr Abhijit Swami along with Diganta Hazarika, president of the association, also attended the event.

Dilip Sangma, general secretary of the association, and Sudhanghsu Acharjee, president of the SMCH employees association, also spoke.
