DOOMDOOMA, Oct 21 - The three-day-long 15th biennial conference of Tinsukia district committee of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) held at Doomdooma Town Field concluded on Sunday evening.
The conference began on Friday with the inauguration of the main gate and the stage by the Satradhikar of Sri Sri Hatigarh Mulani Satra Chakreswar Deva Mahanta. The AJYCP flag was hoisted by Tinsukia District Committee of AJYCP president Surajit Moran. Twenty-nine other flags were hoisted by former AJYCP activists and leading citizens of Doomdooma circle. Smriti tarpan programme was initiated by the acting secretary of Tinsukia district committee of AJYCP Kanchan Bora. Tributes were paid at the portraits of Sukapha, Sarbananda Singha, Raghav Moran, Sati Sadhani, Bir Chilarai, Mangri Urang , Lakshminath Bezbaroa, Bhimbar Deori, Brajanath Sharma , Jyotiprasad Agarwalla, Bishnu Prasad Rabha and Dr Bhupen Hazarika.
Later, a massive plantation drive was carried out. The exhibition was inaugurated by retired principal of Doomdooma College Badan Sharma. Later in the day, the final round competition of creative dance and modern song was held, which was inaugurated by social activist Lalit Gogoi.
The second day�s programme began with an open cultural convention. Over 50 ethnic cultural troupes displayed traditional dances in the open field. Popular cine artiste Tanvi Sharma also participated in the convention. In the afternoon, a colourful cultural procession was brought out in the town.
The open session of the conference was chaired by president of Tinsukia district committee of AJYCP, Surajit Moran. While inaugurating the open session, AJYCP president Rana Pratap Baruah reiterated the demands of complete self rule, introduction of inner line permit and duel citizenship.
Former AJYCP leader and eminent Assamese litterateur Dr Rita Choudhary was felicitated by the Tinsukia district committee of AJYCP in the open session. A book on Dr Rita Choudhary�s life and work published by the Tinsukia district committee of AJYCP was inaugurated by AJYCP general secretary Palash Changmai. The open session was also addressed by All Moran Students� Union president Arunjyoti Moran and All Tea Tribes Students� Association president Rajen Kumar besides others. The souvenir Spondon published on the occasion was inaugurated by the principal of Doomdooma College Dr Prakash Jyoti Borthakur. On the other hand , the mouthpiece of the Tinsukia district committee of AJYCP, Prajanma was inaugurated by the president of Assam Science Writers� Association Dhiren Deka. The president of the reception committee Dr Abdul Quadir, president of Tinsukia Zila Sahitya Sewi Mancha Sarifa Khatoon Choudhury and Dr Rita Choudhury�s mother Dr Molina Choudhury also attended the open session along with the AJYCP central leadership. Earlier, the acting secretary of the Tinsukia district committee of AJYCP Kanchan Bora explained the objectives of the meeting.
On the concluding day, the delegate session of the conference was held at Doomdooma Girls� High School. A 28-member new executive committee of the Tinsukia district AJYCP was formed in the delegate session with Surajit Moran as president, Simanta Das, Sunmoni Chaliha and Jadu Sonowal as vice president, Kanchan Bora as general secretary , Tomal Gupta and Debajit Sonar as joint secretary and Nikhil Phukan as treasurer.
