Bid to take theatre to rural youths of State

GUWAHATI, Oct 2 - As part of its silver jubilee year celebration, theatre group and socio-cultural organisation Ba has decided to take theatre among the rural youths of Assam by organising workshops in different parts of the State.

Artistic director of the group Anup Hazarika announced this at the inaugural function of the silver jubilee year of the organisation that was held recently at the Ba Studio here.

The organisation, an initiative of NSD graduate Anup Hazarika and noted theatre artiste Pakija Begum, has also decided to organise a theatre appreciation course and a drama festival to make theatre more popular among the masses, especially the younger generation.

For the last 24 years the organisation has been staging quality plays in Assam and different parts of the country. Apart from the content, the plays of the group are specially appreciated for good quality light and sound effects.

A number of distinguished personalities including Dr Hesim Ahmed, Manita Borgohain, Chetana Das, Purnima Saikia, Gayatri Mahanta, Bishnu Kamal Bora, Dr Bhaskar Jyoti Bora and Dr Chandan Kumar Goswami among others attended the inaugural function of the silver jubilee year of Ba.
