By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, May 31 - The Nibaran Bora Smriti Raksha Samiti will take out a procession on September 11 in a bid to strengthen and revive Assamese nationalism.

The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held at the Guwahati Press Club today.

The meeting recalled the robust leadership of the late Nibaran Bora during Assams time of crisis several decades back and lamented the weakening and division of the Assamese nationalistic forces in recent years.

Assam is at the crossroads today with many burning problems plaguing the State. The weak leadership of Assamese nationalism and the autocratic conduct of the Central government are worsening the situation. It is time all concerned put up a united effort to revive Assamese nationalism, the Samiti said in a statement.

Todays meeting which was attended, among others, by veteran leaders Thaneswar Bodo, Rajkumar Baishya, Sankar Saikia, Rafiul Hussain Baruah, Soneswar Patowary, Satyendra Prasad Deka and Ranendra Kumar Bargohain, resolved to take a series of steps to revive Assamese nationalism for thwarting the attempts of forces inimical to the States interests.
