Bid to revive cricket in Nehru Stadium

GUWAHATI, Dec 16 - The Board of Sports of Assam (BSA) is planning to revive cricketing activities at the Nehru Stadium in the RG Baruah Sports Complex here.

In a meeting held today among the officials of BSA and organisations like Assam Cricket Association (ACA), Guwahati Sports Association (GSA), Assam Olympic Association (AOA) and Assam Football Association (AFA), the BSA has asked ACA to sort out a plan to prepare wickets at the iconic stadium. Along with cricket, the board also committed to organise other sporting activities in the Nehru Stadium.

The meeting was presided over by Malay Bora, Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Assam, Sports and Youth Welfare. Among others present during the occasion were Dharma Kanta Mili, Director of Sports and Youth Welfare; Romen Dutta, president, ACA; Bishnu Ram Nunisa, vice president, AOA; Parikhit Dutta, vice president, ACA; Devajit Saikia, secretary, ACA; Kamakhya Saikia, joint secretary, ACA and Dhrubajyoti Kalita, secretary, GSA.
