Bid to generate awareness on education, patriotism

JAMUGURIHAT, Dec 22 - Prayash, an NGO of Sootea area had organised an awareness camp on the topic �Education and Patriotism� in a religious minority-dominated area of south Sootea recently.

The programme was organised in the Jame Masjid of Koroioni with Abidur Rahman, the president of Prayash in the chair.

Addressing the gathering as a keynote speaker, Moulana Ajgar Ali, lecturer of HB Arabic College said, �education is a must for development of a community. The Madrasas and government schools located in the char areas should come forward to make people aware about the value and importance of education, population policy and should try to inculcate patriotic sense among the children.�

Saiful Ahmed, vice president of Biswanath unit of All Assam Muslim Students� Union (AAMSU) while addressing the gathering said, �there is a close relationship between education and patriotism. Patriotism cannot be developed without proper education. The people living in char areas are deprived from education in the real sense. That is why it is the need of the hour that we develop a sense of patriotism among the people�.

Notably, the NGO had carried out awareness camps and discussions on topics like population control, child marriage, women education, superstition, etc, so far.

The programme was also attended by Kuddush Ali, secretary of Biswanath AAMSU; Najir Ahmed of Minority Sangram Parishad; and Mustaq Hussain, president of Biswanath NEMSU. The meeting was conducted by Prince Jahirul Ishlam.
