GUWAHATI, July 17 - The Doctors for Clean Air campaign for Assam and NE will be launched on July 21 with an aim to bring together the medical community to address health implications of air pollution.
Several physicians from the State, including Dr Hitesh Baruah, Dr Rashna Hazarika, Dr Ajit Deka, Dr Mihir Kumar Barua, Dr Nareshwar Sarma and Dr Anjali Baruah are leading the campaign in the region.
The group plans to engage and empower doctors and create awareness among public about the ill-effects of air pollution. By partnering in the initiative, the doctors will pledge to be advocates for clean air by highlighting dangerous effects of air pollution on health and asking citizens and governments to work towards clean air.
The concept for starting the initiative is that each doctor should be acting as an advocate for clean air.
Every doctor who feels and agrees that pollution is dangerous for our future generations, should be a part of this movement. It is not an association. It is a movement of doctors committed to do their bit to ensure cleaner air for our future generations, a statement said.
