Bicycles distributed among SC beneficiaries

BARPETA, Nov 22 - The Fisheries department of Barpeta distributed bicycles and fish carrier pots among the beneficiaries belonging to Scheduled Caste community for the financial year 2012-15 in the district. The materials were given to them in an awareness meeting organised by the Rashtriya Krishi Vikash Yojana.

Inaugurating the programme Deputy Commissioner of Barpeta Varnali Deka stressed upon the need of proper utilisation of the materials given to the beneficiaries for upliftment of their families.

Stating that scientific production of fish now a day has changed the scenario she specified the success story of the fish farmers of Dabaliapara area in the district. The Deputy Commissioner also informed that there are several provisions of the government to provide employment generated materials to the women folk of the Scheduled Caste and she requested them to avail the opportunity.

The District Fisheries Development Officer Sunanda Sarma informed that the list of beneficiaries for the financial year 2015-16 has been prepared and has been sent to the government for approval. He also informed that a licensing system for the fish traders of the State has been introduced and requested the traders to apply for the license with an application fee of Rs 50 only. The licence will felicitate the traders to trade along the State without any hurdle.
