GUWAHATI, Nov 15 - Bibhab Talukdar, secretary general and CEO of Aaranyak, has been appointed as Chair of International Union for Conservation of Nature�s (IUCN) Asian Rhino Specialist Group for another term.
Jon Paul Rodriguez, Chair, IUCN Species Survival Commission, said Talukdar will help achieve SSC�s vision by serving as Chair of the IUCN SSC�s Asian Rhino Specialist Group from 2017 to 2020.
�I am definitely happy. Not many people from the region get such opportunities. I think over the years I may have delivered to the satisfaction of IUCN/SSC,� Talukdar, who has been holding the key position of global importance since 2008, told this newspaper from Hanoi where he is attending a workshop on �Beyond enforcement: involving indigenous peoples and local communities in combating illegal wildlife trade.�
The IUCN is the global authority on the status of the natural world and the measures needed to safeguard it.
