GUWAHATI, Oct 22 � To commemorate the third death anniversary of Dr Bhupen Hazarika, the Gauhati Commerce College is organising an all Assam Inter-College Bhupendra Sangeet competition on November 4 from 9.20 am under the caption Ek Gobhir Aasthar Gaan. The competition is open to all regular students from higher secondary to post graduate classes. The first, second and third positions will be awarded cash prizes of Rs 20,000, 15,000 and 10,000 respectively. The organising committee has selected 10 songs from which a competitor can select only one song for presentation. The first lines of the songs are: Mur gaan howk bohu aasthahinatar/Sagor sangamat kotona saturilu/ Bimurta mur nisati/ Manuanuhe manuhar babe/ Bistirna parare/ Snehe amar sata shravanor/ Baku hom hom kore/ Agni jugar firingoti moy/ Sarodi Rani tomar henu naam and Asom amar rupohi...

The rules of the competition and participation forms have been sent to each college of Assam. The last date of participation is November 3. A maximum of two competitors can join from each institution.

A musical evening billed �Geet-mator godhuli� has also been arranged. Details can be had from the principal of the college, a press release stated.
