BISWANATH CHARIALI, Sept 14 - The 89th birthday of Dr Bhupen Hazarika was celebrated in Biswanath and Gohpur subdivisions also along with the rest of the State. As a part of the celebration, �Sudhakantha Dr Bhupen Hazarika Mukali Mancha aru Udyan� was inaugurated in six development blocks i.e., Biswanath, Sakomatha, Baghmara, Behali, Chaiduar and Pub-Chaiduar under both the subdivisions. At Biswanath, the Mancha was inaugurated by Biswanath MLA Prabin Hazarika at a function held at Lehugaon. The function was attended by Biswanath SDO (C) Pallav Gopal Jha, former minister Noorjamal Sarker, BDO Abul Hussein, Lehugaon GP president Kandarpa Hazarika, among others.
On the other hand, the music maestro�s songs were played through the mike sets of Janasanyog in Biswanath Chariali town throughout the day. The fourth year RAWEP students of Assam Agriculture University stationed here also celebrated the 89th birthday of �Asam Ratna� Dr Bhupen Hazarika at the Rangamancha of Uttar Morol Gaon. The village headman Khagen Das was the chief guest in the programme. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by a few village elders and by two teachers of BNCA viz., RK Goswami and PP Neog. Further, the students also performed various cultural activities. Along with these, a Bhupendra Sangeet competition was also held among the village students. The competition was judged by RK Goswami, Khagen Ch Borah and Nika Sandilya. The programme was also attended by people of adjacent villages of Uttar Maral Gaon.
