GUWAHATI, Aug 20 - Journalist Samudra Gupta Kashyap of The Indian Express has been chosen for this year�s Bhupen Hazarika award instituted by Sarhad, a Pune-based organisation.
The award, which consists of a memento, a citation and Rs 51,000, will be presented to Kashyap at a function at SM Joshi Foundational Hall, Pune, on August 22 by former Union Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde.
The function will be presided over by filmmaker Jahnu Barua.
Instituted by Sarhad in the memory of Bhupen Hazarika in 2012, the award aims at creating a strong bond between Maharashtra and the Northeast India. The preceding awardees include Jahnu Barua and Ratan Thiyam.
