Bhupen Barman award presented to young artist

NALBARI, Dec 11 - The second Bhupen Barman memorial cultural award for 2015 � instituted by the Ankita Kala Niketan, Nalbari, and Assam Charu Karu Kala Parishad � was presented in function held at the Kala Niketan here on Sunday.

A young artist, Mrigendra Kumar Das, who completed graduation with the highest marks from the Assam Charu Kala Mahavidyalaya, Guwahati, was given the award by Swapnanil Baruah, Commissioner of Industries and Commerce.

The award consists of a cash of Rs 15,000, a citation, a seleng sador and a bundle of books. The award presentation programme was conducted by Pankaj Govinda Medhi. The programme was addressed by Kandarpa Sarma, former principal of Assam Charu Kala Mahavidyalaya, Jagannath Sarma, principal of Angelica Play School, artist Gauri Barman, Dadul Chaliha, Jogendra Sheil, Shiba Prasad Merar, among others.
