NALBARI, March 27 - Congress candidate for the Mangaldai Lok Sabha constituency Bhubaneswar Kalita appealed to the people to cast their votes for his party for an all-round development in the State.
Addressing a press conference in connection with his election campaign here yesterday, the veteran Congress leader claimed that the Congress is the only party in the country which can bring in development through its policies. �Our policies are pro-poor, coupled with result-oriented programmes, and, therefore, people should elect Congress candidates in the Lok Sabha poll,� he said.
Launching a blitzkrieg attack on the BJP, the Congress leader said that the Saffron party has divided the people on religious lines which is a threat to democracy. �If the BJP comes to power again, then the entire North East will be unstable. Moreover, development will come to a grinding halt because it will only promote Hinduism and not development. I am optimistic that the voters will defeat the evil designs of BJP as they are fed up of the party,� he said, and added that the Congress will form the Government at the Centre this time.
Earlier, Kalita interacted with party workers at Rajib Bhawan, which was presided over by APCC general secretary Pradyut Kumar Bhuyan and was addressed by senior Congress leader Dr Bhumidhar Barman. The leaders called upon the people to cast their votes in favour of the Congress.
