Bhojpuri Parishad concern

By Staff Correspondent

SILCHAR, Sept 16 - The All Assam Bhojpuri Parishad has claimed that out of the 40 lakh people left out from the complete draft of NRC published on July 30 last, names of as many as 8 lakh Bhojpuris have been struck off.

Expressing concern on the sidelines of a Hindi Divas function organised by Cachar Hindi Bhasi Chhatra Parishad on Friday, Kailash Kumar Gupta and Sanjeev Roy, State-level leaders of the Bhojpuri Parishad said, as many as 8 lakh Bhojpuri people have been left out from the draft. Through an affidavit, the State NRC coordinator Prateek Hajela has urged the Supreme Court that documents like citizenship certificates, refugee cards, NRC papers of 1951, etc., should not be allowed as evidence for citizenship claims anymore.

But those are the documents available with the common people and hence we appeal that the proposal should not be accepted in the larger interest of the genuine Indian citizens.
