Bhogeswar Baruah declines sports pension

By Correspondent

Sivasagar June 27 Arjuna awardee Bhogeswar Baruah have showed his unwillingness to receive the sports pension from the State Government unless the selection committe is changed with experience persons in it.

In a press conference held at Joysagar, Baruah along with former international footballer Tosen Borah, Gilbertson Changma and vetern athlete Trolukya Nath Dwarah have expressed their concern for not including proper persons in the selection committee. They said that amount of pension should be different for national and international player and genuine sports persons should be included in the pensioner list instead of proxy players.

They claim that the list announced for the year 2009-10 was not satisfactory where genuine sportspersons were ignored. The ex-players have also announced the possibility of forming a players association.
