GUWAHATI, Jan 16 - Members of Gagana, a Mumbai-based socio-cultural organisation of Assamese people residing in the western suburb of the tinsel city celebrated Bhogali Bihu with pomp and gaiety in traditional style at Mira Road, Mumbai with a day-long programme on January 13, a press release stated.
The celebration began with traditional sporting events participated in by people of all age groups and was followed by a cultural evening. Popular Assamese singer Dikshu and famous Assamese personalities from Bollywood like Debojit Changmai and Amrit Pritam Dutta were also present.
The festivities included a �Urukar Bhoj� with palate-tingling authentic Assamese dishes. The celebration ended with burning of the meji followed by prayers the next morning, the release issued by Runa Sharma on behalf of Gagana concluded.
