Bhergaon admin gears up for BTC election

KALAIGAON, Nov 17 - The civil administration of the Bhergaon subdivision in Udalguri district has made elaborate arrangements to hold the BTC elections smoothly.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Gokul Chandra Brahma told this correspondent that the Bhergaon subdivision has five constituencies, including 31 Khwirwbari, 32 Bhergaon, 33 Nonwli Serfang, 34 Khalingduar and 35 Mwdwibari, wherein all the formalities have been completed.

Brahma, who is also the Returning Officer for the Bhergaon subdivision, informed that around 2,000 polling personnel would be engaged for smooth conduct of the polls and another 500 persons would be deployed for transporting materials, distribution and other activities. �In order to ensure smooth conduct of the elections, 10 Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) will constantly monitor under the supervision of Election Observes,� Brahma informed.

It may be recalled that the BTC elections had to be postponed in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic and during that time altogether 28 nominations were found to be valid.

According to Brahma, 6 candidates are in fray in 31 Khwirwbari, four in 32 Bhergaon, six in 33 Nonwi Sefang, five in 34 Khaling Duar and seven in 35 Mwdwibari constituencies.

Meanwhile, political parties have adopted various tactics to woo the voters. This time BTC election is delicately poised.
