Bhaona samaroh concludes at Charingia Pukhuri

AMGURI, March 25 � �Every guardian should present a bundle of books to his or her daughter while giving away her in marriage�, remarked a researcher of folk-culture and Pratima Barua Pandey awardee Dr Anil Saikia while attending the �Samuhik Naam Kirtan Anusthan� organised under the aegis of Charingia-Pukhuri Anchalik Sanmilita Yuba Samaj.

On the occasion of the two- day-long Naam Kirtan Aru Bhaona Samaroh Silver Jubilee, a souvenir was formally released by Dr Anil Saikia. The souvenir release function was anchored by Chitraranjan Gogoi and Indra Kamal Phukan.

Prior to the release of the souvenir, another function anchored by Prakash Boruah was arranged to felicitate 22 senior persons of the region. The felicitated persons were Shibanath Konwar, Bhola Nath Saikia, Phanidhar Baruah, Sonit Lahon, Rameswar Phukan, Harakanta Phukan, Suren Baruah, Bhadreswar Phukan, Taranath Gogoi, Lilaram Gogoi, Kesharam Gogoi, Nandeswar Borah, Kshetraddhar Hazarika, Padma Konwar, Umesh Boruah, Bhadreswar Gogoi, Bogadhar Baruah, Tulsi Konwar, Tepuram Boruah, Tepuram Gogoi, Debeswar Neog and Rajeswar Neog.

On the following day, the samaroh began with the hoisting of the flag by Tankeswar Gogoi. It was followed by naam prasanga and Dihanaam by the womenfolk. The cultural function in the evening was inaugurated by renowned actor Bishnu Khargharia. In the samaroh, �Gayan Bayan� by young artistes of Dhuniagaon and Gayan-Bayan Dol of Moran gaon performed. In addition to Gayan-Bayan, three �Bhaonas�, namely- Ram-Bijoy, Borahor Medini Uddhav Aru Garudor Amrit Horon and Binatar Dasitwa Mochan were performed.
