GUWAHATI, April 3 Additional Chief Secretary MGVK Bhanu today visited Deepor beel and Pamohi river to take stock of the ongoing eviction drive in the two places.
He directed the Kamrup Metro district administration and the Forest department to free Deepor Beel from all types of encroachment.
During the visit, Bhanu was accompanied by senior officials from the district administration, GMDA and Forest department.
His visit assumes significance in view of the eviction drive launched earlier this week to free the water-bodies from encroachment. Till now, over 100 bighas of land have been cleared of illegal encroachments in the beel.
Meanwhile, during todays drive, 600 metres of boundary walls and part of a godown on the bank of Pamohi river at Gorchuk were evicted for illegal construction on patta land.
