Bhairabkunda tourism fest gets under way

UDALGURI, Jan 20 - The fourth edition of the Bhairabkunda Tourism Festival got under way on Wednesday at the Bhairabkunda Tourist Centre complex with a four-day-long programme. The festival was declared open with the hoisting of the flag by Rihon Daimari, MLA of Udalguri LAC and chairman of the celebration committee.

Addressing the gathering, Daimari hoped that the festival would be able to convey the message of peace and unity which is necessary for development of the border region. He said the objective of the festival is to promote tourism at Bhairabkunda, a trijunction of Bhutan, Arunachal Pradesh and the BTAD of Assam and hoped that it would bear fruits very soon.

The inaugural meeting was also attended by Tridip Daimari, speaker of the BTC assembly and Ripen Daimari, MCLA of Bhairabkunda constituency along with invited guests. Art and quiz competitions were also held on the occasion along with opening of an exhibition where SHGs of the locality are taking part.

The festival will conclude on January 23.
