GUWAHATI, March 4 Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rakibul Hussain today told the Assembly that the State Government was in touch with the Centre and coordinating with it on implementation of the MP Bezbaruah panels recommendations made in the wake of the growing acts of assault, attack and discrimination on people of the North-east especially students living in New Delhi and other metros.

Hussain said this while replying to a question by Prafulla Mahanta (AGP) who, through a call attention motion citing a report of The Assam Tribune dated February 13, 2015, wanted to know the implementation status of the Bezbaruah panel recommendations to check the disturbing trend of discrimination and attack on north-easterners living in Delhi.

Hussain however, was unable to give a detailed status of the implementation of the recommendations.

Mahanta alleged that little was done to implement the panels recommendations, especially in the matter of posting of police officers from the North-east in Delhi and providing legal service to affected north-easterners.

The Bezbaruah panel report categorized the recommendations into three parts including immediate, short term and long-term measures.
