GUWAHATI, July 24 - Betkuchi High School of Kamrup (R) lifted the Dewkon Trophy emerging champions in the inter district school football tournament.
In the exciting final played at the SAI complex here today, the city based Betkuchi High School edged past Singra High School, Boko of Kamrup 2-1. Now the Betkuchi school will represent Assam in the Subrato Cup (U-17) to be held in New Delhi.
Chironjit Gogoi put Betkuchi ahead in the 28th minute while Bishnu Bordoloi made it 2-0 in the 47th minute.
After two minutes Jagdish Boro reduced the margin.
Bishnu, the highest scorer of the championship, received the best player of the tournament award.
In the closing function, Arjuna Award winning athlete Bhogeswar Baruah and Director of Sports Anjan Sarma gave away the prizes to the teams and the individuals. Betkuchi school was champions in the U-14 category last year.
