Benefits of Gyanjyoti Scheme highlighted

GUWAHATI, April 6 � The Chief Minister�s Gyanjyoti Scheme has helped students from far-flung areas of the State not only to be together and exchange ideas but also helped them gain exposure by means of visits to various institutions of science, technology and higher education.

This was stated by Chief Secretary Jitesh Khosla during the concluding ceremony of the event held under the Gyanjyoti Scheme at Sarusajai Stadium here yesterday, said a statement.

He said that the State government has been able to bring many students under this scheme since 2004.

Khosla said that many students have been sent on exposure trips outside the state under the scheme. He said such initiatives will help students to imbibe new ideas and a scientific temperament.

Students from across 14 districts took part in the four-day event which was held under the aegis of the Kamrup Metro district administration.

A number of competitions were organized during the event, including debating, quiz and cultural programmes. Jorhat district was judged the best district of this year�s event.
