SHILLONG, Sept 3 - Indian engineers involved in defense product manufacturing would be trained by German experts in �Blast Protection Systems for Defense Applications� under the NDA Government�s �Make in India� initiative.
In other words, German expertise in manufacturing Safes, which provides protection against major blasts, would be provided to Indian engineers as per an agreement signed here in the State Capital on Sunday evening.
The agreement was signed between Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and German company Muller Safe GmbH. BEL is a Navaratna Public Sector Undertaking under Ministry of Defence known for the manufacture of EVMs and other defence products in India.
Muller Safe on the other hand is renowned the world over for manufacturing Safes which protects from blasts, be it bombs or missiles. It is well known for producing the Panzer (Tank in German) brand of products and is a renowned manufacturer of safety equipments.
The MOU was signed here by BEL Director (Operations) Nataraj Krishnappa and Pawel Dowerschuetz, Chief Executive Officer of Muller Safe, Germany, in the presence of Dariusz Wichniarek, Director of Muller Safe and Joydeep Majumder, General Manager of BEL. Under the agreement, �knowledge transfer� would take place between the two companies.
Speaking to The Assam Tribune after the signing of the agreement, BHEL Director Krishnappa said: �this MoU has been signed to foster long term partnerships between the two Companies to promote manufacturing and marketing of safety equipments in the country and world over.�
Under the agreement, Muller has signed MoU with BEL for according BEL preferred partner status for joint production and supply all over the world and not only in India. �Muller Safe has agreed to consider BEL a preferred business partner for doing world-wide business together in the field of blast protection systems for defence,� the BEL Director added.
Currently, these systems will be manufactured at Navi Mumbai (NAMU) production facility of BEL. Some of the clients for these Safes would obviously be the Indian armed force and also other clients around the world.
�Muller will train BEL engineers on how to produce and install the Blast Protection systems under knowledge transfer so that BEL can achieve similar quality as being produced by Muller Safes,� Majumder said.
