By STAFF CORRESPONDENT

SHILLONG, Oct 15 - Once again the judgment on Bangladesh National Party (BNP) leader, Salahuddin Ahmeds case was deferred today as the public prosecutor sought adjournment.

Ahmed along with his supporters came to the Court and was told that the case would be taken up on November 9 due to the adjournment petition. The court of Judicial Magistrate (first class) has now deferred its judgment for the third time.

The judgment in the case was to be announced on August 13 which was deferred to September 28 and from today to November 9. I dont know what happened but I was told that the next date of the case has been fixed on November 9, Ahmed said outside the Court.

The Bangladesh Opposition leader has been detained for illegal entry into India from Bangladesh and has been booked under section 14 of the Foreigners Act. He is out on bail with strict Court directions. He faces a maximum jail term of five years if proven guilty.

Ahmed has indicated that he was probably kidnapped and dumped by unknown people. He was nabbed by the police here on May 9, 2015 when he was loitering around in Golf Link area in a state of disarray.

According to sources, Ahmed is keen to return to Bangladesh ahead of the general elections in his country. He is one of the closest aides of jailed opposition leader and former Prime Minister, Khalida Zia of BNP.
