BCCI to hold workshop on cricket statisticians

GUWAHATI, June 12 � The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be conducting a workshop for the first time for cricket statisticians at the National Academy of Umpires in Nagpur on June 18 and 19.

Tapash Roy, who is the first BCCI panel scorer-cum- statistician of Assam and have been providing statistics of Assam cricket for the last two decades, wrote a book on statistical and factual data along with journalist Pabitra Gogoi titled Assam in Ranji Trophy, Both have been nominated from Assam to attend the workshop.

Meanwhile, the book Assam in Ranji Trophy is being highly appreciated by renowned cricketer-cum-writter Raju Mukherjee in his latest book on 150 years of Eden Gardens, titled Eden Gardens, Legend & Romance.

�One man from Assam has charted a new route in Indian cricket. He is the scorer-cum-statistician, Tapash Roy of Maligaon. He, along with Pabitra Gogoi, happens to be the first people in India to have authored a book to highlight the statistical and factual data of the State�s cricket history. The book Assam in Ranji Trophy is a pioneering work to this arena in India,� Mukherjee said.
