BBCI celebrates Lokabandhu Day

GUWAHATI, Sept 4 - The doctors, staff, general public and patients at Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI) today celebrated Lokabandhu Day with a daylong programme.

Lokabandhu Day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Dr Bhubaneswar Borooah, who was an eminent physician, freedom fighter and philanthropist. Today was the 124th birth anniversary of the late Dr Borooah. On the occasion, Dr Amal Chandra Kataki, Director of BBCI, recalled the contributions of Dr Borooah in the field of healthcare in the State.

The programme started with distribution of sweets to cancer patients admitted in the BBCI. This was followed by paying of floral tributes to Lokabandhu Bhubaneswar Borooah�s statue on the Institute premises. A tree plantation drive was also held in the staff campus.

A general meeting was held in the auditorium of the institute, which was attended by host of dignitaries. On the occasion, an ambulance was donated to the institute by Paschim Guwahati Durga Mandir Trust.
