GUWAHATI, July 13 � Former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta today strongly reacted to the allegations levelled against him by Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and said that the same were totally baseless.
Talking to this correspondent, Mahanta said that the Health Minister was merely dragging his name to gain political mileage after he failed to reply to the allegations made by Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti leader Akhil Gogoi. He said that Sarma had been using such tactics for a long time since the days of former Chief Minister Hiteswar Saikia.
Mahanta said , �At one point of time, the Health Minister was roaring like a tiger against Akhil Gogoi and now he is beating around the bush.�
The former Chief Minister further said that Sarma was trying to create divisions in the ranks of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) but he would never succeed in doing so. The Congress has always been trying to divide the AGP but such efforts would never succeed and the regional force would become only stronger, he asserted.
