By Correspondent

JORHAT, April 24 In association with the Israeli Embassy, the Jorhat chapter of Sangeet Malancha, a socio-cultural organisation, is organising a world music concert at the Jorhat District Library auditorium on Saturday evening in which renowned US musician Itai Kriss and Israeli artist Yosi Levy are scheduled to participate along with well-known Assamese musician Kaushik Konwar.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Pradip Sarma, one of the organisers, said that the audience would get a taste of fusion music of local and foreign artistes in the programme.

Enchanted by the scenic beauty of the State, the two foreign artistes stated that they have a keen interest in creating a new melody through a fusion of their compositions and the traditional songs of the State.

They said that the traditional Bihu songs and classical music of Assam have the power to attract foreign musicians who feel rejuvenated by the spirit of new creation.

Our programme has been billed as Basant Melody. Since 2009, we have been organising such mega programmes to give a taste of the classical and traditional music of Assam and that of foreign countries. This time the Embassy of Israel has helped us a lot for the programme here, said Sarma.
