Barsapara resident alleges police inaction

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, Jan 13 In what could add to the growing number of land-grabbing cases by the land mafia in the city, a resident of Barsapara under Fatasil Ambari police station has alleged that a part of his residential land was forcefully occupied by certain persons, and that his complaints made before the administrative and police authorities seeking their intervention had gone unheeded.

The complainant, Kumud Chandra Bhuyan, said that the persons even forcefully constructed a wall on a part of his 1 katha 7 lecha plot located at the sixth byelane, Barsapara, that had been rented to tenants.

First I lodged a complaint on the newly-introduced complaint number (receipt no 8, January 5, 2012), and then I personally met several police officers including the Additional SP (Crime), and also submitted a formal written complaint to the IGP (CWR). The SSP, too, has been intimated about the developments, Bhuyan said.

When asked, the Fatasil-Ambari police station in-charge, however, said that Bhuyan had not filed any complaint with the local police station, and that Bhuyan whose own conduct was not above board was having land disputes with his relatives.

Bhuyan said that he and his family had been under a serious threat from the mafia over the developments.
