BARPETA, April 2 - Several organisations and persons of Barpeta district have expressed solidarity with the victims of COVID-19 and have donated generously towards the Assam Care fund created to fight the deadly disease.
Professors, officers and employees of Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya at Nasatra in Barpeta district have donated one day�s salary towards Assam Care. Dr Tarun Chandra Bora informed that all categories of employees donated to help the government fight against the crisis.
Bhattadev Milan Samiti Byaskuchi, the organisation responsible for the management of Byaskuchi Satra established by Bhattadeva, donated Rs 1,11,111 to Assam Care. Barpeta Satra has also donated an equal amount to the fund.
The Howli Raas Mahotsava Celebration Committee donated Rs 5 lakh to Assam Care. A cheque was handed over to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal by representatives of the committee at the Fakharuddin Ali Ahmed Medical College during Sonowal�s recent visit.
Sundaridia Satra near Barpeta donated Rs 51,000 to Assam Care, and a cheque was handed over to the Chief Minister at Barpeta by Satradhikar Jagannath Adhikari.
The Sarthebari Panchkhel Gaya Gayaraha, an apex body of Sarthebari, donated Rs 50,000 to the fund, and the amount was transferred electronically from their bank account.
The Gomura Satra in Barpeta district, established by Sri Sri Madhavadeva, extended its support with Rs 5,000 collected from devotees of the satra.
