Barpeta DC visits storm-hit Bajali

PATACHARKUCHI, April 13 - Deputy Commissioner of Barpeta, Munindra Sarma, visited storm-hit areas of Bajali subdivivion and took stock of the situation. He arrived at the Bandhasidhani village, which was devastated by the storm and assured all possible help to the people from his side.

He also distributed relief materials to the affected families. The DC was accompanied by Nayan Jyoti Bhagabati, SDO (Civil), Bikash Sarma, DIPRO and Dr Sangita Sarma, Circle officer. It may be mentioned here that these families were severely affected by last year�s flood.

Pathsala Bazar Committe president, Giridhar Choudhury, Bajali Zila AJYCP president, Mridul Talukdar, representatives from Pathsala Rongali Bihu Sanmilani too appealed to the administration to extend relief to them. A section of villagers alleged that they are yet to get compensation from the government. The DC, however, said that a comprehensive proposal has already been submitted to the State government.
