Barpeta DC assures help to develop two ancient spots

PATACHARKUCHI, Sept 9 - Barpeta Deputy Commissioner Munindra Sarma visited two ancient spots in Barbhaluki and Kshudra Bhaluki villages recently and assured to extend help for the development of the spots.

He discussed about the potential of the two tourist spots with the local people and took stock of the area. The one situated at Kshudra Bhaluki village is a temple dedicated to Goddess Kali, constructed during the Ahom rule by Rani Phuleswari in the 18th century. Rani Phuleswari reportedly offered prayers regularly in the temple. Antique items have also been preserved by the locals in the temple but with the passing of time, the temple needs reconstruction and preservation. After the visit, the DC assured his help for the development and preservation of the historic spot. Bikash Sarma DIPRO, Barpeta, writer Pulu Kumar Sarma, Krishna Roy, producer of Abahan Theatre accompanied him. Durllav Sarma, president of the temple management committee and Paresh Chandra Das, retired teacher and social worker also attended along with locals.

The DC also visited a spot at Barbhaluki village which is a satra founded by Damodardeva, which is in a shabby state. He discussed the issue with the satradhikar, Nripendra Nath Goswami and informed the locals that an aid of Rs 10 lakh under the Assam Darpan scheme has already been sanctioned for the infrastructure development of the satra.
