Barak Valley Sahitya Utsav from tomorrow

NILAMBAZAR, Feb 16 � The two-day Barak Valley Sahitya Utsav 2012 will be held at Karimganj from February 18 at the District Library auditorium.

On February 18, the programme will begin with a colourful cultural rally. Dr Bhupen Hazarika Smriti Mancha will be inaugurated by Dr Sulekha Chakrabarty, Inspector of School, Dr Mamoni Roisom Goswami smriti mancha will be inaugurated by Kamalakha Dey Purkayastha, MLA North Karimganj.

At 11 am the lighting of lamps of �Sahitya Utsav 2012� will be performed by Dr Bhupen Sharma, principal secretary, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and the then Deputy Commissioner, Karimganj district.

The open session will be held at 1 pm. Shishir Neogi, retired engineer, Govt of West Bengal, Nipendralal Das, Retd Professor, Moulavi Bazar College, Bangladesh, Haran Dey veteran writer will be participating in the programme.

Dilip Biswas (editor, Ekabali) Bivash Bardhan (Editor, Rajanigandha), Masuk Ahmed (Editor, Swadesh) PK Ray (Editor, Eksonge), Dipankar Ghosh (Editor Srihottojyoti), Mujib Swadeshi (Editor, Kala Kushum) will be participating in the Sahitya adda. They will also express their valuable opinion regarding the problems of small magazines especially in the Barak Valley. Biswajit Choudhury, veteran writer and editor Sharih Sahitya, will preside over the programme.

The cultural programme will begin from 5.30 pm.

On the concluding day, the open session will be held at Dr Bhupen Hazarika Smriti Mancha. Gautam Roy, Minister, PHE, Siddique Ahmed, Minister, Co-operative & BAD, LM Suklabaidya, MP, Karimganj, M Bora, J Borgoyari, DC, Karimganj, Dr Radhika Ranjan Chakrabarty, Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmed, Dr Nibaran Chandra Das, Dr Gita Saha, Satu Roy will take part as appointed speaker among others.
