BADARPUR, July 4 � �The special package of Rs 1000 crore for the development of the Barak Valley, promised by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi during the last Assembly elections is going to be a reality,� said the State PWD Parliamentary Secretary Maniram Gowala while addressing the foundation stone laying ceremonies of various projects at South Patharkandi of Karimganj district recently.
Gowala said the package even though late will actually be a reality and the main focus of the package will be for renovating the historical spot of Malegarh, the Cachar Cancer Hospital, the Bhuban Hills and the Karimganj Medical College.
Besides these, the package will also be utilised for the construction of various roads and bridges of the three Barak Valley districts.
Gowala also said that under the special package, each MLA of the Barak Valley will be given a sum of Rs 60 crore each to carry out developmental activities in their LACs. He also said that the PHE departments of Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi districts have already received Rs four crore each.
At the inaugural ceremony of a bus stand at Rangamati on the Assam-Tripura-Mizoram border, Gowala said that the 27-km-long Lowerpowa-Mizoram Road has been fully constructed with a sum of Rs 1.75 crore. He also laid the foundation stones of a foot bridge at Lowerpowa Chara, a community hall in Bazarichora GP, Enchabil GP office and a police camp.
