BADARPUR, July 28 - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has assured the people that it will help out all those people who may find their names excluded from the final draft NRC list to be published on July 30. This was stated by Biswaroop Bhattacharya (State BJP vice-president) and AIDC Chairman as well as former BJP MLA Mission Ranjan Das, at a press conference at Karimganj, on Thursday.

They appealed to everyone not to panic. They reiterated that those who dont find their names in the NRC are not necessarily foreigners. They also urged the people of Karimganj district, as well as of the entire Barak Valley, not to pay heed to any rumours on the NRC issue. They also stated that Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and the State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, had also given the fearless message to the people of Barak Valley, in their recent mahila samaroh, at Karimganj and Silchar. The meeting was attended and addressed by all senior district BJP leaders.

Meanwhile, to avoid any sort of untoward incident or violence, after the publication of the NRC list on July 30, the Karimganj district police administration beefed up security arrangements in the entire district. Sensitive places of Badarpur, Bhanga, Nilambazar, Patharkandi, Karimganj and the rest of the district have been brought under tight security. A police control room has also been opened at the Karimganj Police Headquarters.
