Barak bandh on July 10

By Correspondent

SILCHAR, June 24 The Nagarikattwa Suraksha Sangram Committee has called for 12-hour Barak bandh on July 10 in protest against harassment to the genuine Indian citizens in the name of National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Pradip Kumar Deb, convener of the committee said that they have undertaken a series of protest campaigns in the form of picketing in government offices of three districts of the valley as a buildup to the Barak bandh.

Deb said that the governments at the Centre and also in the State have been informed about the anomalies in the modalities in the NRC yet there has been no action initiated to correct the flaws. Slamming the State Government on its role in the process, the committee members said that the government has clipped a host of complex sections in the NRC form due to which people are facing serious problems in filling up the data. The members criticised the inclusion of Section 4(A) in the Citizenship Act.
