Bar Council to help advocates in distress

GUWAHATI, March 31 - The Bar Council of Assam and other North East States which comprises advocates of Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, stated on Monday that it is working to help the advocates who have been facing financial hardships amid the nationwide lockdown.

The Bar Council took the initiative after receiving requests from various district bar associations to help the advocates. In a statement, chairman of the Bar Council Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Choudhury said at present there are around 35,000 registered advocates in these five states and among them 18,000 are continuing with their practice.
