DIPHU, July 22 - Former AGP leader of undivided Karbi Anglong autonomous district Bapuram Bey breathed his last on the night of July 21. He remained an active political and social person throughout his life.
Before entering into active politics, he was an employee of Cement Corporation of India in its Bokajan unit. He remained instrumental in establishing the base of Assam Gana Parishad in undivided Karbi Anglong autonomous district. He served as the district president of AGP and later joined State politics.
He remained attached with the AGP for 28 long years until he joined BJP in 2014. He was the first Chairman of Bokajan Town Committee after its formation. He founded the Karbi Club of Bokajan. He was also the founder of Bokajan College. He was also the Chairman of Hill Areas Planning Board, Government of Assam in 1998-99.
