Banned ULFA claims responsibility for blast in Fancy Bazar area

GUWAHATI, OCT 13: Amidst heightened security in view of the ensuing Durga Puja, four persons were wounded after a low intensity blast took place near Sukreswar Ghat in the Fancy Bazar area at around 11.45 am triggering panic across the State.

Meanwhile, the banned outfit ULFA has claimed responsibility for the blast today.

The explosion took place a few metres away from the Panbazar police station.

The injured persons who include a woman have been rushed to the Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital here.

Senior police officials have also rushed to the spot.

Onlookers claim that they heard a deafening sound and the intensity of the explosion was such that it completely damaged the wall adjacent to the footpath.

The injured persons have been identified as Kalpajyoti Talukdar, Sanku Das, Binita Das and Taifuddin Ahmed.
