Bangladeshi team visits Dhubri to discuss infiltration

DHUBRI, June 30 - In a bid to discuss various international border-related issues, mainly illegal infiltration and border crimes, a team from Bangladesh visited Dhubri on Sunday afternoon.

The 10-member team was led by the DC and DM of Kurigram, Sultana Pervin, the SP of Kurigram Md Mohibul Islam Khan, Addl DM of Kurigram, Jilufa Sultana and a host of other dignitaries. Kurigram, a district of Bangladesh is closest to Dhubri district in India and shares its border with Patamari, Golokganj, Agomoni, Halakura ares of Dhubri district.

Speaking to this correspondent Sultana Pervin, informed that they will sit with the representatives of India�s Dhubri and South Salmara districts and discuss various border-related issues. �It includes issues like illegal immigration, border management and control, human and cattle trafficking and narcotics.� She also informed that the meeting that will be held at the Deputy Commissioner�s conference hall, Dhubri on Monday will also discuss border trade, land port, land settlement issues and flood and water management issues.

However, speaking to this correspondent, the Deputy Commissioner of Dhubri, Anant Lal Gyani informed that talks are going on with Bangladesh over setting up of two border haats. He informed that one will be set up at Satrasal, while the location of the other is yet to finalised. �In this meeting, we will have discussions over this issue�, said Gyani.
