Bangladeshi arrested

NAGAON, April 24 - Jahura Khatoon, a Bangladeshi national living at Kandhulimari village under Dhing police station, was arrested by the Nagaon police. She was declared a Bangladeshi national in 2005 and later she approached the Gauhati High Court in 2017 with an appeal but that was rejected. After that she was absconding.

Later, she succeeded in getting a false PAN card, Aadhar card, etc., with the help of one Saidul Islam, son of a village headman, to get her name included in the updated NRC.

She was married to Abdur Rahman of Hatijujua village under Jajari police station and they have three children. After Jahura was declared a foreign national, she was taking shelter in the residence of Nasiruddin, one of her relatives at Hatijujua village

Police have sent Jahura to the Tezpur detention camp and arrested two persons involved in her case.
