Bandh hits normal life in Udalguri

By Correspondent

UDALGURI, Dec 16 - The 12-hour Assam bandh called after a long gap by the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) under the aegis of the National Federation for New States (NFNS) ended at 5 pm this afternoon peacefully.

During the bandh hours, there was no report of any untoward incident from any part of the district. All the educational institutions and financial institutions, including banks, remained closed during the bandh, while the vehicular traffic was off the roads.

The bandh was called by the students organisation demanding a separate state within Assam.

It is to be noted that the people of the district had to experience a similar bandh on December 14 which was called by the All Koch-Rajbongshi Students Union (AKRSU) demanding a separate state of Kamatapur and the scheduled tribe (ST) status to the community.
