JORHAT, March 8 - After a discussion with Golaghat deputy commissioner and superintendent of police, Chutiya Jati Chatra Santha (CJCS) and six other organisations of indigenous people last night withdrew their call for a bandh in the district for indefinite period.
�Administration assured us of taking proper initiatives to maintain law and order across the district. Besides, we also demanded immediate arrest of all the accused persons involved in the case of vandalism in Silapathar. At the same time we filed a complaint with police to arrest another person, who was accused of destroying a few shops at Golaghat town on Monday night,�said a office bearer of CJCS, Mohen Bora.
He also said that the bandh call was withdrawn after district administration gave them assurance of arresting the miscreants who were accused of being involved in destroying shops at Golaghat town.
It is to be mentioned here that demanding the immediate arrest of the main accused involved in the vandalism at the AASU office at Silapathar, the Golaghat district unit of Chutiya Jati Chatra Santha (CJCS) and six other organisations of indigenous people announced a bandh call for an indefinite period in the district from Tuesday afternoon.
